Linxens Singapore celebrates its 20th year anniversary

It's with great pride and excitement that we mark this significant milestone together. Our Singaporean journey began in Loyang (a neighborhood in Singapore). The plant there operated as a visual inspection workshop, sorting products made in France. By the end of 2005, we had industrialized our tape manufacturing process, producing 197 million tapes in 2004 and reaching the billion mark in 2006!

In 2008, with production growing, Linxens created a second 15,000 m2 plant in Changi. By 2012, it became our single production site in Singapore.

Fast forward to 2021, we expanded beyond tapes with a new module packaging activity. Today, while continuing to produce 4 to 5 billion tapes annually, Changi is evolving. We're expanding our module capacity, introducing a new OS Loading capability, and manufacturing healthcare products.

To celebrate two decades of dedication, collaboration, and pioneering spirit that have shaped Linxens Singapore, the team gathered for a gala. Dressed in their finest attire, the team walked the red carpet, feeling like stars capturing memories with fellow colleagues.

Throughout the event, everyone engaged in games, competitions, and lucky draws, celebrating each other’s achievements that have been reached together over the years.

This event was not only a tribute to the past, but also a cheerful celebration of our ability to adapt, create, and work towards a common goal that will drive us forward in the future.

Here's to 20 years of growth, achievement, and endless possibilities !

Linxens and Clayens collaborate to develop a Mini NFC Tag, directly Integrated into the material of the Medical Device

Levallois-Perret, France – March 5, 2024 – In a significant advance for the medical sector, Linxens, a pioneer in the design and manufacturing of electronic components, is collaborating with Clayens, a European leader in the transformation of polymers, composites, and precision metal parts, to develop a unique medical tracker directly integrated into the material.

Unlike conventional methods, which apply NFC tags via adhesive or assembly to external elements such as labels, Linxens and Clayens have chosen to innovate by integrating the NFC tag directly into the polymer matrix of the medical device. This approach allows for the tag to be inseparably fused with the product, offering unprecedented security through an unfalsifiable Unique Identifier (UiD).

Early warning sensor for li-ion battery overheating in electric vehicles in the making

October 31, 2023 - SmartNanotubes Technologies, a Silicon Saxony startup that has developed the world’s first electronic nose chip “Smell iX16” for mass market applications, and Linxens, the global leader in SmartCard Technology , RFID tags and reel-to-reel flexible electronics united their efforts to develop a disruptive early warning sensor for Li-ion batteries in electric vehicles.

The SmartNanotubes' e-nose technology is mimicking a human nose in terms of the principle of smell detection. Instead of receptors of a biological nose, the smell detector chip has a variety of fine-tuned nanomaterials as sensing elements, which ensure an outstanding sensitivity, highly compact structure and close to zero power consumption. AI-based software is responsible for a real-time recognition of odor-specific signal patterns read from the detector chip. Thus, SmartNanotubes provides a very compact, energy efficient and cost-effective platform technology for the use in various odor-related applications.

Healthcare: what are the benefits of wearable devices?

Strong transformations have happened in recent years. Covid outbreak had a tremendous impact on our lives and our practices, encouraging and accelerating technological and social changes at many levels. Most obvious is of course teleworking and home delivery as response to lock down and travel restrictions, but it has also modified our perception of medical innovations that was already happening in healthcare, all looking after the same objective: avoid unnecessary visits to hospital and physicians to reduce occupation and face medical staff reduction.

Markets are already moving on with these technologies. United States before anyone else, followed by Europe and Asia Pacific region. This is directly linked to the fact these regions are facing an ageing population with the challenge related to chronic diseases, and an increased awareness of infectious diseases.

All-in-all, the benefits of the new wearable “smart-patches” are multiple and significant. Alix Joseph, New Ventures HealthCare Director at Linxens have listed 5 major benefits to both clinicians, patients and society:

  1. Continuous monitoring: Unlocking easy continuous monitoring of various physiological parameters such as heartbeat, temperature or breathing (but not only), it provides a complete picture of patients’ vital signs, not only a snapshot.
  2. Remote monitoring: Connected to smartphones or other devices, they allow patients to send data to healthcare providers remotely. This can help to identify problems early and improve the management of chronic conditions.
  3. Early detection: Continuous monitoring allows for early detection of changes in patients' health leads to early treatment and then better outcomes.
  4. Personalized medicine: Monitoring and tracking individual patients' health metrics, providing valuable information could be used to develop personalized treatment plans.
  5. Cost-effective: Being disposable and less expensive than other traditional medical devices and lab tests, it makes them more accessible for patients and healthcare providers.

Linxens is working on the vertical integration of the different pieces in these wearable medical devices to ensure the easier and faster development, focusing on robust and reliable solutions. The expertise gained in the past decades in mass production for flexible electronics leads to a unique capacity to propose cost-effective complex solutions for medical partners, both for biosensors, design, converting and secured data transfer.

"Just Draw It": When Future Designers Embrace Linxens Technology

Lobster Quadrille, that she did it at all. 'But perhaps it was good practice to say 'I once tasted--' but checIt's a match between the technology leader and design students! Linxens is proud to announce its collaboration with l’École de design de Nantes Atlantique for the "Just Draw It" project. The challenge invites about 20 students in the 3rd year of the DNMADE INTERNATIONAL program at the École de design Nantes Atlantique to imagine innovative solutions based on Linxens technology.

Harnessing Collective Intelligence to Design New Connected Products This extensive program will punctuate the daily lives of future designers for three months. Our goal through this collaborative project is to combine the potential of our expertise with the creativity of students to innovate, conceptualize and develop a new solution around private or public water monitoring.

Today, the majority of water control systems are optical products or electronic devices designed for professionals. Linxens wishes to participate in the development of a more accessible tool that enables the general public to measure water quality through sensors connected to a smartphone.

While technology can help measure the quality of bathing water (pools, basins, lakes...), many applications remain to be imagined to conquer new markets. This is where the talented students of l’École de design de Nantes Atlantique come in. During this project, designers students immerse themselves in a real pedagogical experience serving progress and innovation.

Their challenge is to create a fictional brand, reflect on the product's strategic positioning, and model a feasible solution that meets real consumer uses with concrete situations. “The design part in a technological innovation is crucial, because it allows to highlight the benefit of use beyond the simple technological benefit.

For an innovation to be well received, it is not enough that it is technically efficient, but it must also be easy to use and accepted by the general public. Therefore, revisiting design is a key element to improve the adoption of innovations.

This is why we wanted to collaborate with l’École de design de Nantes Atlantique, to get a new perspective on our products.” Nicolas de Guillebon, Innovation Director at Linxens L’École de design de Nantes Atlantique: An Inspiration for the Industry of the Future A real reference in the world of design, l’École de design de Nantes Atlantique is a recognized institution with international influence.

A pioneer, it claims a unique positioning, considering design as a strategic discipline at the service of a responsible and sustainable world. The school makes a point of promoting exchanges between students and businesses. The "Just Draw It" project illustrates the school's professional anchoring by enabling students to collaborate on real issues. "Just draw it, just do it, just think it ...

Based on Linxens' precise, simple and efficient technologies, this first project illustrates very well the common will to conceive clear semantics, obvious uses and accessible designs. A great challenge that our students from 8 different countries are delighted to take up." Olivier Pigasse, supervisor at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique and designer Linxens shares with l’École de design de Nantes Atlantique the ambition to think about the world of tomorrow, taking into account technological, societal, and environmental developments. We also share the conviction that design is at the heart of innovation strategies, enabling the exploration of new universes and the imagining of new uses.

This partnership is an opportunity for Linxens to rethink its practices with a differentiating approach. "The project that our students are currently carrying out with Linxens perfectly illustrates the commitment of l’Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique to project-based teaching. Feeding on real contexts, constraints and problems, exploring the field of possibilities in order to produce visions and scenarios of the future, such is our methodological approach to support companies in their transformation in the face of tomorrow's issues and challenges." Florent Orsoni, Director of Foresight at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique A Project Divided into Several Stages Partnership launch on February 27, 2023 A collaboration organized around eight four-hour sessions over three months.

Battery passport for electric cars as presented in Davos will not be enough

While two car manufacturers announced on Wednesday, January 18, at the Davos Economic Forum what the battery passport for electric cars could look like - which should be mandatory from January 1er 2026 in the European Union - the world leader in micro-connectors and RFID smart card antennas, Linxens, is calling for the project to take a step further to bring greater security.

Cyril Proye, IoT Marketing Director at Linxens, comments: "As electric mobility is increasingly used worldwide, battery traceability is becoming a very important issue, both for the production chain transparency and for the safety of users. Therefore, Linxens is pleased with the initiative to create a passport for electric car batteries and is closely analyzing all related announcements. Regarding the projects presented in Davos, while the “digital twin" with all the battery information will be secured in the cloud, the use of QR code raises important security issues.

Remember that it is very easy to copy or erase a QR code, which could be the source of many frauds. As an expert in traceability and authentication in highly secure areas such as banking, healthcare and personal identity, Linxens invites all car manufacturers to go further. To make the device truly effective, it is essential to create a label that is inseparable from the object and secure. For example, we know how to develop smart labels integrating a chip with a unique number and a memory, which cannot be removed without erasing its content.

It is this type of technology that could provide the necessary security for this project. We are convinced that the battery passport for electric cars as presented in Davos can be improved. But we still have time to design a truly secure document. A real passport."
